May This wave, shot at the old Ormond Pier, is about as big as it gets locally, with the exception of freakishly lined up hurricane swells or any "Perfect Storms." The month saw a tropical depression stretch from Cuba to Georgia light up the coast with a week of Victory at Sea conditions.

Daytona Beach surf reportApril The LandShark Pro went down, a big overhead day blew through, and some small, clear-water days started to unzip down the beach, signaling that summer was on the way.

Daytona Beach Surf reportMarch There were a few good days here and there, but March was also when we saw a mixed East Southeast swell and a background Northeast swell combine to give us a Big Friday that was followed by several clean, good days.

December Socked in fog sessions, wet suits and barrels, the O.B.-Sea crew at the Ormond Pier... it's Christmas time! To view the month in surf, click the photo and use your arrow keys to scroll to the next shot.

October The start of fall saw kite-surfers out in force and an absolutely classic Saturday. To view the month in surf, click the photo and use your arrow keys to scroll to the next shot.

Super Slow Mo of Dylan Longbottom in a 12-foot barrel

This footage, a very short clip, is from "South Pacific" a BBC documentary. It is said to be the first-ever "Super Slow Mo High Def" surfing footage. But I don't think it's true. The first ever Super Slow Mo High Def footage I've seen is of Jamie O' Brien at Backdoor Pipeline. The video, "BackDoor Switchfoot" linked here, was shot from a remote control helicopter.  I guess it depends on what the exact, technical specs are of "Super Slow Mo High Def." The BBC video's frame rate is definitely slower. Way slower. Anyways, the vortex action underwater behind the wall is pretty far out.
