We have a standing monthly date to go out with another couple to a restaurant at least one of us hasn't tried before. My husband and I live in Port Orange and the other couple lives in DeLand. Give us your most heartfelt recommendation for your favorite, anywhere in Volusia County.

If you like really great pizza, try Luigis on the west side of US1 just north of Flomich in the Riviera Plaza. It's fabulous! Mexican - Maria Bonitas wins hands down. Enjoy!

Have you tried Ronin in Downtown Daytona Beach? It's an unusual sushi bar with a good menu and a few non-traditional Japanese dishes. Good sake, too. I have also heard that Mariachi on Beville Road is good and has a Mexican/South American menu.

La Fiesta over on Nova by Dunlawton, in Port Orange, is a good place for Mexican. Still Maria Bonita's is my favorite, I like their "Manual's Original", with chicken, nice meal to keep you full and satisfied.

I love Martini's Chophouse on Ridgewood just across the street from Maria Bonita's. They have beautiful ambience and a wonderful menu that changes daily with great food. For a special treat head there on a Wednesday between 5 and 8 pm for Winedown Wednesday, a $12 dollar tasting with a great changing selection of reds and whites and an appetizer buffet included.
